About Eldercare- An adult day program which offers a relaxed and familiar environment creating a “home of the heart” feeling for seniors that have a functional impairment and are in need of a structured day.
- Eldercare philosophy encourages maximum autonomy and freedom, offers sensory and social stimulation while promoting individuality.
- In regards to the dementia population, the aim is to see the person behind the disease; enable consumers to maintain continuity with the past and to continue normal social roles appropriate to adults.
- Engagement in meaningful activities is one of the critical elements of good dementia care which helps consumers maintain their functional abilities and can enhance quality of life.
- Our programs offer many opportunities each day for providing a context with personal meaning, a sense of community, choices and fun.
- All interactions are designed to do with – not to or for – the consumer.
- To accomplish the individual care plan goals effectively, consumer preferences are used as the basis of our approaches.
- Provide success oriented activities that help maintain the consumer’s ability to perform self-care.
- Families are encouraged to provide transportation to Eldercare.
- If the family cannot then Greene County transportation may be able to assist. Eldercare staff will attempt to help families find solutions.
- Consumers and families may visit Eldercare for a “free day” before starting formalized services.
Program Eligibility- Participants must be 60 years old or older, or have a dementia related disease.
