About Supported Work Program/Supported Engagement Program

  • The goal:  to prepare and assist public assistance recipients to obtain unsubsidized employment and to provide work opportunities for post-24 month cash assistance recipients.
  • Support Coach and client have 6 months to address barriers.  After 6 months, the clients can either be referred to another program or seek employment

 

Supported Work Program (SWP) activities may include:

  • Life Skills/Job Preparation/Readiness/Job Search
  • Contracted Job Development
  • Skills Training
  • Self-Sufficiency Counseling
  • Workfare
  • Work Experience
  • Subsidized Employment
  • English-as-a-Second Language
  • Community Service
  • Remedial Education
  • Parenting For People In The Work World
  • GED
  • Supervised Work

 

Supported Engagement (SE)

  • Works with individuals whose barriers are so significant that immediate employment would not be advisable. 

Program Eligibility

  • Referred by Department of Public Welfare.
