Women Infants & Children (WIC)
- The goal of the program is to decrease the risk of poor birth outcomes and to improve the health of the participants during critical stages of growth and development.
- Provides a range of nutrition services and education for pregnant women, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children under age five in a supportive environment
- Provides healthy supplemental foods including: milk and cheese; fruit and vegetable juices; eggs, peanut butter, and dried beans; iron fortified cereals; iron fortified formula for babies who are not breastfed.
- Provides comprehensive lactation services including: Certified Lactation Counselor and Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
- Provides basic and hospital grade electric breast pumps available for rental; WIC participants may qualify to use pumps free of charge.
- Referrals to other services in the community
- Breastfeeding helpline is available 1-877-814-0788 x 449. Helpline is staffed daily 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM; weekend and after hour calls are returned daily around 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
